Hosted by Dominic Jones (The SWU Podcast) and Ciaran Duggan (Xpression FM), The Clone Wars Strikes Back began as a podcast dedicated to celebrating the legacy of the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars by watching and discussing every episode arc in chronological order.  Now, with the imminent return of The Clone Wars, Dominic and Ciaran have returned to further explore the legacy of the series and get you set for new episodes (whenever they may air)....

Dominic Jones

Head writer and podcast host for The Star Wars Underworld, Dominic is a die-hard Star Wars fan from Toronto, Canada. He loves all aspects of Star Wars from the movies, to the TV shows, to collecting, to the books & comics, to fan films and parodies. He has attended events all over the world including Star Wars Celebration, San Diego Comic Con, D23, New York Comic Con, Fan Expo Canada, and more. His other interests include Baseball, Hockey, Harry Potter, and cinema.

Ciaran Duggan

A long time contributor to the Star Wars Underworld and reporter for The Lancashire Telegraph, Ciaran remains a long-standing and passionate Star Wars fan. His expertise and passion for Star Wars is far-reaching, as he has watched all of the Star Wars films and the all of the episodes from the TV series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels. He has also read a range of Star Wars novels and comic books from the canon-verse. Darth Plagueis remains his favourite novel. His other interests include radio presenting, producing and training, as well as watching sport, particularly soccer.

History of the Show

Dominic and Ciaran first met at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2013 in Essen, Germany and became fast friends while discussing The Clone Wars, alongside their friend and frequent guest on the show Chris "Irish Chris" Lynn over lunch between panels.   After the convention they kept in touch from Canada and England, respectively.  Then Ciaran came up with the idea to rewatch The Clone Wars in chronological order and podcast about it to pass the time leading up to The Force Awakens and The Clone Wars Strikes Back was born.

On October 1st, 2013 they released their first episode, with Irish Chris as guest, discussing the episodes "Cat and Mouse", "The Hidden Enemy", and The Clone Wars movie.  They would go on to cover the remaining six seasons, as well as the comic book series Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir, the novel Dark Disciple, and the story reels released on StarWars.com, culminating in a commentary of Revenge of the Sith.

In July 2016, following Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016 in London, The Clone Wars Strikes Back went on an extended hiatus as the guys focused on other projects, including The Star Wars Underworld Podcast, The Watchers of Westeros, and Live From Lothal.  But, in July 2018, following the announcement that The Clone Wars is returning on “the Disney direct to consumer streaming service” (Disney+), Dominic and Ciaran revived the show and began releasing new episodes again on a highly irregular basis.

In February 2020, to coincide with the release of the seventh season of The Clone Wars, Dominic began hosting weekly episodes featuring members of The SWU family and other friends of the show breaking down each new episode. “Classic” episodes, with Dominic and Ciaran breaking down the season seven arcs, are slated to be released in Summer 2020.
